What has FF and CrossFit done for me..
It’s given me a new career, a new passion, a new community to be part of…plus the gift of fitness. I came into Functional Fitness as a member in FFD, I had moved to Dundee for a teaching job, needed a new place to train, I did not see it going in the direction it did. I was a PE teacher, I loved it, I did exercise for me, I went after work as a place where I didn’t have to think about anything other than the exercise and release it gave me after a day at school. That changed – I moved back to Fife, I changed the school I worked in and I joined FFSA (still as a member). I was then encouraged to go on my Level 1 course and came on board as a part time coach (after school). Fast forward a few years and I dropped hours at school to spend more time coaching in FFSA. Fast forward again, and I quit school completely to coach full time. I believe in Functional Fitness and the Crossfit methodology, I love fitness, I love getting people fit, making them better, being the person they vent to, helping them daily and I couldn’t think of a better bunch of people to spend my life with everyday.
Crossfit and Functional Fitness also made me fitter. I’ve been active my whole life – I danced when I was younger, I did various fitness classes (Zumba, Metafit etc) previously, however nothing captured me like Crossfit did. I was able to see progression straight away. Through cardio fitness improving, lifting numbers going up, new skills being gained, I was able to try harder, want to achieve more but most importantly I gained knowledge from the coaches who coached me and still coach me now.
So to those who are members – I hope and know that you share my passion and thank you for trusting myself and the team with your fitness.
To those thinking about joining us – why are you waiting? Get involved now and give us the chance to improve your fitness.
